Skin Needling

Strengthening ⍿ Healing ⍿ Rejuvenating

Micro Skin Needling, or wound induction therapy as it is otherwise known, creates thousands of micro needle columns in the skin, each one penetrating into the dermis layer. These columns stimulate the skin, encouraging it to regenerate and repair itself thought the production of elastin and collagen.

Micro Skin Needling

Originally researched as a way of treating acne scarred skin, scientists noticed that a happy consequence of this wound induction therapy actually rejuvenated the skin, strengthening weakened and aged skin, and vastly improving volume and clarity.

Now used globally in skin clinics as an aesthetic anti-ageing treatment, Micro Needling  uses tiny needles to create channels in the skin. Pinpricks from the procedure cause slight injury (or wounds) and the skin responds by rapidly producing huge amounts of new skin tissue, rich with collagen and elastin (the building bricks of your skin) to heal these tiny wounds - just as it would if you cut yourself.  These channels also allow your clinician to apply certain additive serums, allowing for deeper penetration of specifically chosen ingredients into the dermis - where they can be even more affective.  This new skin tissue is, in turn, plumper, firmer and more even in tone and texture, and is visibly different after just one treatment.

1 Session

Numbing cream is applied to the face to reduce discomfort. Once the skin is desensitised, skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepared to receive the penetrating needles. Skin is punctured to deliberately cause tiny channels which will then allow deeper penetration of chosen treatment serums. Skin is then calmed via the application of cold compresses and then protected. *Note: no make-up or creams should be applied for at least 24 hours after treatment and it is very important to follow homecare advice given by your therapist.

3 Session

Although excellent results can be seen after just one session, it is always advised to take a course of sessions to optimise the healing benefits and to truly achieve long lasting results. These sessions are usually recommended in blocks of three or six, depending on your skin needs and what problems we are aiming to treat. These treatments also compliment other aesthetic, and facial treatments such as chemical peels and Lightfusion™ and can be combined into a bespoke treatment package to truly help reverse skin damage and the signs of ageing.

3 Sessions - £400

6 Sessions - £800

I have sensitive skin, is this treatment advisable ?
Micro needling can actually help strengthen sensitive skin.  However, a professional consultation would discuss the best options for your particular concerns as there are also other treatments suitable for sensitive skin.
How long is the recovery time ?
Generally you will be flushed after the treatment for the rest of the day.  Most clients find that by the next day their skin is already starting to heal and calm and therefore would allow them to resume normal life.
Who is suitable for micro needling ?
Excellent results can be shown when treating many different skin concerns so there are not specific conditions which are better suited to this treatment - your consultation will discuss the best treatment for your specific skin needs.
Yes, Lightfusion™ is non-ablative, meaning it does not cut, burn or break the skin surface. Lasers work by using heat and this heat causes trauma within the skin that creates a wound that then repairs. This means that after a laser session, your skin will be very red, often painful and you will peel. The recovery time is anything from 3-10 days with a laser treatment.
How many treatments will I need ?
Micro needling treatments can show great results in just one treatment but if you are addressing a stubborn condition, such as loss of volume or deep pigmentation, we advise a course of three to six treatments to achieve real, lasting results.
What results can I expect to see ?
Every skin is different and so results will vary from person to person, however you absolutely will notice a pronounced difference in skin texture, firmness and evenness.  We often use this treatment as an alternative to injectables to help support the skin through the years.
How long will the results last ?
On average, a course of three to six treatments is usually performed once a year as a great support for your skin.
As with any electrical facial treatment, it is not advised to have this treatment if you are pregnant or undergoing any medical treatment which may alter your skin's reaction to light - such as chemotherapy.  Please speak with your specialist to advise of alternative treatments.
